Connecticut AIDS Residence Program hosts New Haven's First Tribute to Harry Chapin
Time: 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Location: Shubert Theatre
Liberty Community Services, (Connecticut AIDS Residence Program),one of New Havenís oldest and most successful providers of housing and services to individuals affected by homelessness, is beginning a year-long anniversary celebration of its 20 years of service to the community. The anniversary events will open with New Havenís First Tribute to Harry Chapin, a concert on June 1 at the Shubert Theater, for adults and families featuring the Steve Chapin Band, with members of the original Harry Chapin Band, and the acclaimed L.U.N.C.H. Ensemble.

The Steve Chapin Band has proven to be a delight to both the legions of fans that attended Harry Chapin's concerts in the seventies, and the flourishing next-generation of Chapin enthusiasts. The enduring legacy of Harry's music shines each time Steve, along with Chapin band alumni Big John Wallace and Howard Fields perform their stunning renditions of Harry's most-loved songs.
Founded in 1987 as CARP (Connecticut A IDS Residence Program), Liberty opened the first supportive housing program in the state for individuals with AIDS and later established an outreach department that now manages over 2,500 calls annually for information and referral. Today, Liberty Community Services provides housing and services to individuals confronting homelessness, chronic illness and mental illness through its many programs, including Liberty Safe Haven, Connecticutís first Safe Haven Program, which provides a permanent residence for chronically homeless adults.

This exciting family concert will continue the music and inspiration of Harry Chapin, co-founder of World Hunger Year and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, by engaging the power of popular music for positive social action. Tickets are available at or (800)228-6622.
